International Youth Day 2023

International Youth Day celebrates the determination, ideas and leadership of young people as we pursue a better world. Paragon International Secondary School organised a grand Youth Day celebration on 14th August 2023.

Our Youth Day celebration wouldn’t be complete without students’ involvement on stage relaying mature speeches infused with stunning and classy performances.
Year 7 gave a thought-provoking inspired Ted Talk led by students from year 7; Sophia, Jia En, Wei Xin and Wen Yu on the topic of the importance of Youth Day.
Year 8 as well as year 7 took part in a poster competition on the essence of Power of Giving, remembering that there are people in the world, not as fortunate as us.

On behalf of Year 9 students, Dhimitraa introduced famous youth leaders around the world such as Greta Thunberg. The qualities of the leaders and what they had accomplished set them apart from adult leaders as even at a young age, being able to make a difference in the world and on topics that will affect their own future like the environment crisis.

Year 10 stood for the dance and singing entertainment segment of the event, with vibrant and impactful singing performances by Eugene Lim taking on ‘Fly me to the moon’ by Frank Sinatra, a group called the Golden Hour showed a remarkable dance led by Kee Yong Xuan and other year 10 students as well as mesmerizing Music Band performance by Mathew and other band members. There was no shortage of diversity of talent, with a Hip-Hop dance led by Aernst and fellow group members as well a breath-taking ballet dance by Jacelyn Tan Jing Suen and Neo Yu En and piano performance by Alastair Khor from year 9.

Year 11 took centre stage talking about The Youth Day and the challenges of growing up as a youth today in a Talk Show inspired segment; touching on subjects such as self-esteem, peer pressure and other important issues faced in school and at home. Rhema, Kerene Lai and Chen Hao were chosen to tackle these important questions about being youths and so they did eloquently and with conviction in front of their younger peers.

Overall, it was a fun-filled event showcasing students’ talents and unity through creativity and inspiring minds of Paragon Youth. A big shout out to our amazing teachers and students as their hard work created unforgettable memories.
